Does your child need something to do on days off from school? Parish Community Recreation has the answer for filling some of those days with recreational activities. The Parish Town Board has approved a yearlong recreation program in Parish. That’s right, Parish area youth will have enriching experiences all year long.

Throughout the year on some of the days off from school (particularly during the summer) there will be many activities and recreational trips offered.

The 2007 season will begin on Monday, January 15, with a day of fun at the Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium.  The day will begin at 9 a.m. with a basketball 3 on 3 tournament.  There will be seven divisions:  2 – 4 grade; 5 – 6  grade; 7 – 9 grade; 10 – 12 grade; 18 – 28 years; 29 – 39 years; and 40 and older -- for a fee of $5 per person.  Great prizes and fun for all participants.    Registrations will be available at the gym or send a request to the above email address.

Who is the Best 3 Point Shooter in the Town of Parish?  There will be a 3 pt. Basketball Shooting Contest as well.  Beginning at 9 a.m. and $5. per person.  Each opponent will have two rounds of 60 seconds to make as many points as possible.  There will be prizes for each division:  male or female:  10-12 yrs; 14-16 yrs; 17-19 yrs; 20-28 yrs; 29-39 yrs; 40 and over.  Overall winner will receive $100 cash or a savings bond or gift certificates.

But that is not all, there will be board games, dance, dance revolution, and movies going on in the meeting room for free throughout the day from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.  There are hopes of getting an inflatable bouncer for the afternoon.  There will be food and drink available for purchase.

You can assure the success of this program and show your appreciation by volunteering your time at least once throughout the year.

Referees are needed for Monday, January 15!
